How Much Is a Booger Worth On the Open Market?
A Booger is worth one feisty Italian with great hands, super athletic ability, and the ball hawking skills of.....well a Hawk. The rookie phenom Sabatino "The Hit Man" Piscitelli is gracing us with his presence at Buccaneers training camp thanks to one chubby 1st round bust by the name of Anthony "Booger" McFarland. Thanks to the lack of production by the defensive line of the Indianapolis Colts, General Manager Bruce Allen's phone rang one beautiful day in October. On the other side of the line was one very desperate Colts GM by the name of Bill Polian, looking for D-Line help. What better place to look than the defense their current Head Coach helped build along with current Buccaneer Defensive Coordinator Monte Kiffen. This was a win/win for both teams. The Buccs wanting to part ways with Booger a long time ago had their hands tied by a hefty contract gift wrapped by former GM Dick McKay. Football fans who don't hold the Buccaneers near and dear to their hearts may not even know, or realized at the time that Ellis Wyms was the starting Nose tackle for half the season, and during the Buccs post season SuperBowl run. The oft injured, under performing and overpaid Booger had always spent more time on the golf course than on the practice field or weight room, and it showed on game days. But that chapter in Buccaneer history is closed.
The Colts GM offered to the Buccs a 2nd round pick, #64 overall for Booger's services. Landing Sabby Piscitelli with that choice was like essentially trading Booger for Sabby. Sure Mcfarland helped the Colts win the SuperBowl last year(at least he earned his ring this time), but with his newly acquired torn patella tendon, it would seem the Buccs have already gotten the better of this trade. The Hit Man is having a stellar camp so far, and the only reason he hasn't been named the starter is because Phillips who's back was against the wall has risen to the challenge. Whether it's the presence of Defensive Backs Coach Raheem Morris or the thought of losing his job to a rook, no one knows, but something has lit a fire under Jermaine this off season. Most experts predict though, that Sabby will win the starting job at some point this season. Hell, all Sabby has to do is make it through one season healthy, and he already would have outplayed Booger. I wonder how Sabby's golf game is?
